Our Flavors

All of our flavors are handcrafted, keeping all ingredients and spice balance in mind, highlighting the nuances of South Asian cuisine.

Each one is conceptualized by Pooja, whose passion for unique yet approachable desserts came at a young age.  

 

Seasonal Scoops in

Our Shops

Our scoop shops rotate a seasonal selection of up to 12 of flavors, along with up to 2 rotating soft serve options. Our scoop shop flavors change every other month so there's always something new and exciting to discover when you visit!

The flavors below are available in all of our scoop shops except our West Village Summer Pop-Up, which has a limited and frequently rotating menu of fan-favorite scoop flavors.

Dairy 

We use local New York dairy for all of our signature flavors. Dairy, with its blank palate, is able to carry spices and flavors more robustly, creating the best end product.

 
  • Sweet Roti & Ghee

    Bread, sugar, and butter -- we take that and ‘Indianize’ it with ingredients like roti, jaggery, and ghee.

  • Carrot Halwa

    Carrots sautéed in ghee, and with a touch of cardamom. If you've ever had the carrot halwa dessert, you'll know exactly what to expect with this ice cream.

  • Pumpkin Garam Masala Crumble

    Fall seasonal. The unexpected pumpkin spice: a pumpkin ice cream with the sweet and savory spices of garam masala, with a smoky black cardamom graham cracker folded throughout.

  • Masala Chai

    A little sweet, and a little spicy. You will get hints of ginger, cinnamon, and black pepper in this flavor inspired by the classic tea.

  • Rose with Cinnamon Roasted Almonds

    Our most popular! Sweet, floral and spiced - there is nothing that this ice cream doesn't hit. It's unlike anything you've had before, in the best possible way!

  • Sweet Milk

    Think: condensed milk in ice cream form. Sweet simplicity.

  • Ghughra

    Ghughra, little pockets of pastry filled with a nutty, milky and cardamom spiced mixture, is the ultimate Diwali treat.

  • Tulsi Chocolate Chip

    This is the Malai version of the classic mint chocolate chip! Tulsi is a mix between mint and basil, with chocolate and cocoa nibs running throughout.

  • Kheer

    Nutmeg and orange scented rice pudding is folded into our eggless ice cream base; our take on the classic dessert, Kheer.

  • Peda

    Peda, a milk fudge, faintly spiced with cardamom and topped with pistachios, is a favorite at Malai. To round out the Malai Diwali lineup, we fortify our sweet milk ice cream with toasted milk powder and cardamom and then fold in roasted pistachios.

Non-Dairy & Sorbet Flavors

We use coconut milk and Raaka vegan white chocolate to ensure that all of our non dairy flavors are as creamy and luxurious as our signature flavors.

 
  • Vegan Spiced Peanut Crunch

    Sweet, salty, nutty and spicy all in one! This is a rich, spiced peanut ice cream with the slightest amount of cayenne pepper. The best part: peanut chikki swirls (a brittle made with coconut oil and jaggery). Delicious!

  • Chocolate Coconut Burfi

    A dairy-free rich chocolate sorbet swirled with a cardamom spiced coconut fudge. We love the chewy and creamy texture that the coconut burfi adds to this vegan frozen delight.

Vegan Spiced Peanut Crunch

Chocolate Coconut Burfi
